Can anyone point me to some working drivers?

I've tried bigfoots latest for windows 8, Dells latest version on bigfoot, the windows 8 default ones and atheros 9xxxx 10.0.0.221 WHQL.

All give me limited connectivity after a short space of time.

It's frustrating to say the least.

Well we have a main forum thread for killer specific issues, but from what I have personally seen it is a problem with the compability between the router and the card. You know the make and model of the router you are trying to connect to?

Killer Wireless Discussion Thread - Look for Solutions and Ask Questions Here

I'm running the latest killer drivers off the r4 dell driver page on a few year old linksys router and I haven't had a single issue. :)

The thing is it was problem free under windows 7 64bit. It's definitely the drivers. Router is a virgin media superhub.

    Atheros & Zidas drivers
Look at the top of that page will give the latest drivers.

As for me, I had issues until I changed router. It's been pretty good now. The cheap ISP routers I have issues with. Latest drivers might be worth a try though I guess.

    Its not the router.

It worked fine on windows 7, my gf is fine on her laptop which is exactly the same spec as mine but she's running windows 7 x64.

It these poor drivers that qualcomm are pushing out. I wish i got the intel card now.

Might be a long shot, but have you disabled 'fast boot' in the advance power options (under change what the power buttons do) ?

After 7 system restores i removed all killer drivers again and am just using the windows default.

That removal of the fast boot setting seems to have made it more stable on the default driver, just getting the occasional dropped packet now.

Don't know how you thought of that, you might just be a genuis.

+Rep and thanks for all your help.

Sounds good. You should try upgrading to the latest BETA ones if you can get them to install if you want the killer network manager features. You need to completely remove any wireless network adapter software and drivers before you install them though.

Yeah the fast boot thing I don't really understand, its a hybrid of hibernate and shut down. So shut down means it will not actually shut down but all your drivers and services are put to hibernate which should help you boot up from shut down fast, but it means everything is waked up instead of started fresh when booting up from shutdown. But I don't see any difference in boot up speed, and I doubt you will since we both have SSDs for our boot drives. But shutting down is faster without fast startup since there is no big dump of files written when our computers shut down.

I assume whenever something crashes shutting down and starting up was not the same as restart do the glitched service/driver cropped up again, or the network drivers arn't stable being put to hibernate vs starting fresh. Thing is I can not even make my drivers crash when i put the computer to hibernate and back on, they are still stable, same for sleep as well. Not too sure whats going on tbh :)

Glad you got it all working for now :)

Took me months to figure out anything to fix the drop outs haha!

Sorry for double post, but i think i've solved it and would like to help others with issues.

I've installed the AR9485 driver from the lenovo website (since qualcomm atheros don't host on their own site). Driver verison 10.0.0.75

Driver link : Atheros AR9485 WLAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Desktop

Seems rock solid, plus has better performance than the default windows 8 ones.

    1. Download bigfoot network driver cleaner....

    2. Clean uninstall using the above application

    3. Download the latest driver available from Bigfoot's website.

    4. Install.

If you speed is slow check within the Network Managing Application to see if the limit is below your broadband bandwidth.

Spoke too spoon it is indeed dropping packets again. I've tried killer cleaner before and upon reboot and reinstallation of the killer network driver windows will fail to load drivers with error code 31.

From what I know the killer 1103 is based on a AR9380 series card. I havent had any issues so far. If you have a random spare router lying around I'd try it. I just use the virgin media hub as the modem and another router as the main router now. The coverage of the virgin router was a bit iffy. Might be worth checking which channel it operates at as well?

But a few of us have had good results with a new router. But even on my poor router (cheap isp one) I don't get any packets dropped though. How far are you from the router? Are there plenty of surrounding wifi networks? Did you try inSSIDer?

I'm going to try changing it to 5ghz tonight as that will be less crowded and I sit less than 5m away from the router anyway. Will use inSSIDer too.

    Thanks

It's running at 5ghz now, and all is fine. It must of been congestion, weird since it was fine on windows 7 and my gf's machine was fine. Maybe the newer drivers are more sensitive to channel conflicts?

Read up channel setting guide for wifi...there are certain channel's which are more predisposed to interference.....

Had to go back to windows 7. All is fine again now.

Think i'll order the intel 6300n and upgrade to windows 8 again later.
