Hi guys, really need some help here, not sure where to post this so here goes:

The other day when I turned on my laptop it just wouldn't connect to the internet and I haven't been able to get it to connect since. It says its connected to the modem but not the internet however I've reset the modem, tried the internet through my phone and desktop wireless and they're all fine so its not a problem there, must be something wrong with the laptop itself. I've re installed the driver for my network card on my laptop but still the same. I have no idea what the problem is, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

(my laptop is an alienware m17x with Killer Wireless-N 1103 card if that helps)

    Hi Wiggles,

My card did EXACTLY the same thing.

I think it's a combination of a Windows Update problem and Mcafee. It works instantly again if you uninstall Mcafee.

    I hope this helps,

    Gary

    Hey wiggles,

Try to do a System Restore to a couple of days before the problem started.

A recent McAfee update broke internet for many users. It wasn't just you. I work in a service center and we got many calls over it.
