The speakers on the R3 are a huge letdown lol. I don't expect laptop speakers to be amazing, but I was expecting the R3 to sound at least half decent, but at 50% or above, there's noticeable rattling and distortion for any type of audio. It also makes everything sound very hollow.

I really doubt this is "Klipsch quality", as I've owned the 2.1 Klipsch ProMedia speakers before, and they were awesome.

I have seen some people posting issues and it could be a manufacturing defect. There shouldn't be any rattling. You should call Dell and have it fixed.

First, there is something wrong with your speakers. I can turn mine up to 11 and there isn't any distortion or rattling.

Second, I don't think it is a fair comparison between your laptop speakers and the ProMedia 2.1 system. Those speakers have larger drivers for one, and a dedicated subwoofer to handle the lower frequencies.

For laptop speakers, I think they sound great. Better then the Beats audio on my Envy 14.

Rattling is not normal. Get them fixed. It's pretty easy, call up dell and they'll send ya a tech and some new speakers for free, the next day. :p

I will agree that they aren't the best sounding. the MSI GT series with Dynaudio is soooooooooo sick in audio category, everything else is mehhhhhhhhh.

I don't have any rattling though, even at highest. OP might want to get that checked

Umm, they definitely DON'T sound better than the speakers on my Envy 14.

I guess we have different ears.

The Envy speakers are pretty weak, and I am not the only one who holds this belief. They are alright, but the ones in the M17x R3 are nothing to sneeze at.

I am equally surprised that you two do not have the same ears!

Likewise, I'm not the only one that thinks the speakers are pretty bad in the R3.

It's a subjective thing. Some people slap on Bose headphones and hear bliss, others hear the jingling of the money they wasted.

To me, the R3 speakers sound inferior to the Envy 14.

I think he was referring to the overall build quality of Klipsch's audio products.

Some people have reported different audio quality of speakers dependant on their hard drive choice. So I was curious as to what hard drive you are using. Some say the smaller drives or ssds leave room for rattling/echoing.

My M17r3d's speakers were pretty decent. However the JBL speakers on the xps 15 sounds better imo.

I would never have the expectation that a laptop would be capable of producing anything close to what would be considered "good sound" from the internal speakers. The design just isn't conducive to such a thing and is generally the reason for the audio output ports.

The SSDs are the same size as the HDD. 2.5 inch drives.
