    Hi guys

Today a someone from Dell is coming to my house to replace the screen and ODD on my M17xR2 (the replacement has a 1440x900 instead of 1920x1200 like my R1 had)
The last 2 techs that "fixed" some stuff in my R1 broke a few thing so they had to give me a replacement.
Im happy with the upgrade but i don't want be without a laptop again if the tech breaks something.

my question is, can I take it apart so when he gets here i just swap the parts and assemble it back?

    Edit:
Hope i get an RGB screen but i doubt it, how to know for sure if it is or if is not an RGB screen?

The RGB screen gives you 1920 * 1200 of resolution, and the number part could be J2CY8€170CT (info taked from HWiNFO32), thats the recent code, the old one was HF or something like that.
I thi nk you can take this appart, always than you dont broke nothing there must be not a problem.

They are replacing your $200 RGB-LED upgrade with a 1440x900?

    Screw that.

When the tech got here i ask him if i could do the replacement my self and he said yes but if i break anything he would not be responsible.
I changed the LCD (R610K€170CT same as my R1s so not an RGB :()
and the ODD and everything is working as it should.
The specs of the R2 replacement they sent me:
    820QM
    Dual 5870m
    CCFL WUXGA
    Blu-Ray Burner
    500GB HDD
    6GB Ram

My R1 specs are on my sig, the only thing i changed is the CPU from a Q9000 and the HDD, i think the original was 500GB.

Why would you let them give you a downgraded LCD? I don't get it...

no, they sent a 1440x900 screen in the R2 by mistake, i was supposed to get a 1920x1200 and that's what was replaced today, is not an upgrade or downgrade, is the same screen i had in my R1
