Do you game directly on your laptop display or are you hooked up to a larger monitor?

Internal display. Only reason I'd use an external display is for Eyefinity, and I'd be using 3 external displays at that point.

Mostly on the laptop. On the rare occassion I am hosting a LAN party or just feel in the mood, I hook it up to the home theater, but not for the screen, for the sound. :)

I have a little set-up that has turned my laptop into a desktop. I have an external keyboard, mouse and monitor. I even have a 5.1 surround sound system hooked up to it, so I almost always leave it where it is.

Except when I travel I leave all the extras behind and just use the internal monitor. :)

I use the internal monitor. If I want to game with a larger screen, or better sound, I use the aurora in my signature, which is connected to a 52" Sony 1080p LCD HDTV & a Pioneer 7.1 A/V receiver.

I do a bit of both - depending on how im feelin at the time. It was one of the main reasons i wanted to get a larger external monitor really - that and the obvious benefit of extended worktop space.

Could do with a 3rd poll option for both! ;)

For those that DO game predominantly on an external, how do you find it compares to the internal monitor? - faster...slower...better/worse colours etc...

External monitor 99% of the time. I have bad eyesight and a small, glossy and dark laptopscreen doesn't make it easy on my eyes (I use the 1280*800 res on my full hd 23" screen to give you an idea how bad my eyes are).

My laptop is basicly a desktop replacement, and will only be used away from my desk to proces archives for my paper.
