In my current M17x I have the following:

    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9800 @ 2.93GHz

    2GB of Ram

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (build 7600), 64-bit

    GTX260m

I'm looking to upgrade these into being able to run SWTOR on best settings imaginable, if that is at all possible.

    So far I am considering this for the Ram upgrade: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ

Are there any major/cheap upgrades for my graphics card/processor etc.

Some people have modded the 6970/6990M cards to work in the M17x (though not sure about Core 2 Duo/Quad M17x). Also your M17x should be able to handle Core 2 Extreme quad core CPU's.

Don't believe anyone has attempted to install the 6970/6990's in an R1. So not sure if it'll work or not.

ebay got them, all you need is the QX9300, also grab another 260m for sli if you already dont have, your going to need do a bit more research regrading the video card upgrade before you grab one, for instance do you have proper PSU? and your going to need Sli cable as well as the right card which is the slave.
