    Hiya

I have seen what i think is a good cooler for my lappy - NZXT Cryo LX.

Trouble is, I have tried searching for UK places to buy and havent had ANY luck at all.

Maybe you know of somewhere in the UK that i can get 'em from? - or alternatively a suggestion of something comparable.

I liked the look of the Cryo, and obviously to me, the fans seemed to be in the right place for the M17x - nicely placed all at the back from the pics ive seem.

Anyway, let me know what you think or if you have any advice.

    Cheers!

    Hi there,

I had this exact same question just a couple of days ago and received a few responses here.

    Hopefully you'll find that helpful,

If you do find a UK stockist please send me a PM as I'd love to avoid the shipping charges from the US!

I cant find one for love nor money.....if there was an alternative which had the fans located in the same place (to the rear) then i would be ordering one right now but i cant find any !!

I will let you know if i find a place (doubtful in the UK) and you could do vice versa?

Also, if your buying from the US, bear in mind customs as well as shipping....probably work out quite pricey i would imagine

I have a Antec Notebook Cooler 200 it was my second choice after the NZXT Cryo. It's good & does what it's supposed to do well.Looks good as well.Seen a few comparisons both coolers in tests and there both on par with each other.Size wise it's perfect for the M17x.Will still buy a NZXT Cryo when i next order a load of bits n pieces from the States then get shipped in one box to cutdown on shipping prices.

Cheers for the info Sauce....have fired off a few emails to check on availabililty, god they are rare to come across in the UK and i dont fancy having to shell out loads in import tax and shipping.

Fingers crossed they got one floating around gathering dust - the fans should blow that away LOL!

I just looked into the lack of availability a bit further,

As people have been saying it is no longer being produced, which probably explains why the UK has none left and only a few seem to remain in the US.

    However,

On the official NZXT support forums a member has asked about a US stockist and an NZXT staffer claims that the cancellation was due to a factory issue and they will be back in production in July or August (Must be august then!).

This could well mean that we start seeing them appear on our shores again, so hold on before paying the shipping and customs and you may just see one available soon!

Excellent work !!! well done and thanks for finding that out.....will keep a look out for it.
Is there a UK "branch" that we could contact to find out ETA for UK stock I wonder?? - maybe they could tell us eh? - I mean anything to avoid import/customs costs!

I've sent an email to NZXT sales support so I will post it here if anything comes from that. But all being well it should only be a matter of weeks til they are being stocked again. My M17x doesn't even arrive til the 1st September! Can't wait.

I have seen countless posts on these forums of people who have needed them replacing etc so it won't put me off!

I think that mostly replacements are in the significant minority, after all, no one starts a thread on NBR describing the continuing perfect working condition of their M17x!

I've been looking at the U2 (2 fan) version, and it seems to review well. Being able to place the fans in exactly the right places makes a lot of sense, especially for such a cheap option.

The price is good too. I can buy the U2 for around $NZ50, and most of the other USB fan coolers are at least $NZ75. I guess you do sacrifice a little in the way of looks, but the cooler is always going to but under the laptop anyway so who cares? :)

FYI, I somehow managed to find a UK stockist of the Cryo LX so i jumped on it as i was told they wouldnt be getting any more in - once they have gone that would be that.

Its getting delivered today so looking forward to testing it out.

Hi Darth, i managed to get one from Scan computers Scan.co.uk: Leading supplier of Laptops Accessories but i think i bagged their last one as i dont think they have any more but its worth a shot. I tried everywhere in the UK but they just arent available.

Even the one i got today has problems with it, im in the process of getting replacement parts from nzxt sent over....(usb hub not working/fans not adjustable) so, even tho i got one, it still has problems but it is worth a bit of hassle i think.

    Hope you get sorted.

Temps roughly 5 degrees below normal sometimes a bit better under heavy load. Idle the entire body is cool to the touch and the temps are lower by several degrees, as much as 5 but I don't really have an average because I'm not keeping an eye on it all the time when it's idle (afk kind of thing)

You can achieve better temps if you actually get a higher Power adapter for the NZXT cryo LX as you can safely use a 12V adapter. and actually have the fans run at full speed, but the trade off is that you cant use the USB hub. IMO it's a fair tradeoff.
