Can you guys please tell me if the latest 11.12 AMD display drivers are safe to install and do they cause BSOD like the 11.11?

Oh man. So for how long will this thing go on? Is there a fix or new Vbios that will cure it?

Thanks for the update guys. I wanted to ask u all something. When u see a BSOD, how do u get into normal windows and remove the drivers? bcoz safe mode doesnt allow me to uninstall display drivers from program and features. What is the method of resolving this issue?
I had to reinstall windows all over again as i was facing problems after not uninstalling display drivers correctly after the BSOD caused by 11.11 drivers. Any info is appreciated from you all.

Had this problem today. Go into safe mode, then device manager, then right click no your display adapter (5870) and click on disable, this will allow you to install drivers in both safe mode and normal.

I have been telling people this many times..

    Use safemode
    1) Use driver sweeper software to get rid of AMD drivers entirely
    2) Use Revo uninstaller pro to get rid of CCC and left overs.

you should then be able to boot normally without display drivers

AND YES I HAVE FLASHED THE VBIOS. YOU MUST DO THIS TO GET DRIVERS DIRECTLY FROM ATI. OR YOU CAN BRICK YOUR CARDS.

The flashing is quite safe. I have done it at least 6-7 times on my cards due to bios overclocking. Just follow directions and it will be safe!

    Enjoy

On a clean installation, I can only get the Dell website video drivers to load. I tried the 11.10 and while the installer indicated "success", no drivers were actually installed! Even the Control center was not installed??? I'm at a total loss at the moment...

Do you have the newest Vbois installed on your video cards? You must have the newer version to update your video drivers from ATI.

Thanks flynnaz. I do have the latest VBIOS confirmed by HWinfo. And the latest A10 MB bios...

    Any essential MB bios settings?

Also, as to the order of driver installation, I've become slightly confused. There are a number of threads for complete install - all have totally different driver orders... Main agreement is chipset first and CC last...

I've literally been at this all day.... Display problems at every turn. At one point I did at least have the Dell drivers installed. But the benches were horrific and I had to keep resetting the scaling on my flat panel. Everytime I restarted it would go to a reduced screen size. I'm going to try another fresh install...

I finally tried the 12.1 preview drivers... Perfect!!! No issues whatsoever.

12.1 Preview worked for me!!! Even noticed a slight performance bump in Crysis 2 on Ultra settings with DX11 and AA on. Good stuff.

    Hey guys

I had so much trouble with my MX17-R2 its pretty much put me off laptops. That said I reckon I played a major part in this and didn't install stuff correctly.

I'm trying to do a vbios update with a CD but it comes up with PXE 61 media cable not found, or something around those lines and it exits out, now I can go and get a 2G USB but I don't want the same thing to happen. Can someone please help?

also great website guys, I know where to look next time :p
