Not sure what i have going on. I'm new to alienware. Just got mine in today and after about 2 hours of running, my lights are flickering throughout all zones.
I tried changing colors in the command center, and when i select a new color option it flashes for a second and stays the original color that it shipped with. I cannot control any of the zones and the flickering has become a distraction.
Any ideas what may be causing this? I've checked temps and everything is as it should be. Power levels all good, and I have changed nothing from stock settings.

After some digging around and messing with things, it turns out that having EVE running is what is causing my lighting to 'freak' out. Nothing is happening in game to trigger any effects and turning off AlienFX in game results in no change. However once i close EVE everything returns to normal. Guess i found the solution, just odd that it was happening.

When you say 'turn off alienfx' do you mean right clicking on the alien head next to the clock and unchecking 'Enable 3rd party alienfx access'?
-
no i was turning it off in game through EVE's menu.
I would like to try the way you mentioned but I'm not sure which alien head you are talking about as i have none by my clock. I am new to AW rigs so perhaps I'm missing something -
Found what you were talking about, although it was grayed out and had 'disabled' next to it. I still managed to unchecked the 'enable 3rd party alienfx access.' However this did not fix this issue.

It should be there. See this info if you are not familiar with changing the notification icons...
Change how icons appear in the notification area
I suggest 'show all'.
EVE Online supports AlienFX. If you are seeing the flickering only when EVE is running then this is the cause. Easiest way to confirm would be to temp disable 3rd party alienfx access. Also see: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1325275 -
Great thanks, after rebooting it was no longer grayed out and the change to disable the 3rd party alienfx access fixed took. I was able to run EVE without the light flickers and once again have control over my lighting scheme.

Yep. Sometimes the effects they code in to work with AlienFX just aren't as cool as those game devs think they are... lol. you can find more info on what works with AlienFX here -
