I get this little red X over network sometimes after I wake it from sleep and have no idea why. I don't lose access to the internet either... everything seems fine so I have no idea why it showed up.
I attached a picture.
Any ideas???

You should use the Intel Proset Wireless software. Much better than the Windows wireless connection utility
Intel® PROSet/Wireless Advanced Enterprise Software for Windows 7 64-Bit* -
I have the Intel Pro Wireless utility that came installed on the computer. I will check out the Advanced Enterprise version you posted. I did not know anything about that...
Thanks! -

Anytimelemme know how you like it. I find it is loads better and I can actually hit 270MBPS which is my netgears rated speed so I am very happy with it.
It is the newest drivers as well for the 6300 and it can be a little confusing to use at first as it creates seperate profiles for each network you use, but if you need any help at all using it I will be more than happy to lend a hand
here is a screenshot

Thanks for the screenshot - it looks pretty cool! I do have several routers with different connections I use so this will be neat for me...
Thanks for sharing...

The Sand,
My laptop does the same thing when it wakes from sleep mode. The indication is a little different since I use the wireless connection. My laptop has to reconnect to the internet. I think it is some power saving mode that shuts the adapter off. Don't know why you don't drop your internet connection, but that's a good thing. -
Is Intel Pro Wireless utility really better than Window's wireless feature? I'm trying to avoid installing too many things on my laptop and didn't install the Intel Pro Wifi Utility. Would it help boost the speed? I get only about 130mbps here for the 6300 to communiate with my Trendnet 300mbps router.
If it does perform better, then I'll probably install it too. -
