I just got the Battlefield BC2 from steam.
First of all, I maxed it out and played.
Somewhere fps drops from 60 to 5-10 and resumes after 5-6 seconds.
I used throttlestop but it still exists.
I tried using 1440X900 resolution which should have solved the problem but it still exists.
When I monitored the temp, it showed 78 in one GPU and 58 in the other.
I am sure that my 280M SLI can max it out but something is messing my performance.
    I am using 260.99 WHQL.
    Anu suggestion?

    Could be GPU throttling.

Agreed. You need to post a GPU and CPU temperature log. ThrottleStop will take care of the CPU temp log, and you can use GPU-Z to log GPU temps. Or HWinfo32 will do both. If you see a lot of plateaus and valleys, you are throttling. HWinfo records the highest, lowest, and current temps. Just check the 'Max' column to see what your highest temp was.

Your M17x R1 is likely running into throttling problems do to power consumption. It's a common problem in this model when using SLI. You need to run a ThrottleStop log file to check for this. The two clock modulation columns in the log file should always be showing 100%. If they ever drop below that level, you have found your problem.

ThrottleStop should be able to read both of your GPU core temperatures but will only display and log the temperature on the hottest card. You need to go into the Options window to turn on GPU monitoring.

Here's the most recent version that also keeps track of your maximum CPU core temperature.

    I just checked the temp.
My 4 cpu goes max 55,58,62,62 and min 48,52,52,55
and my gpu goes max 58,70 and min 52,64.
    Now what?

Update: Right after posting the message(^^^), my screen turned black and white and flicked for 2-3 sec and it hanged.
So, I had to do a hard restart.
And yes, no overlock and stock on both cpu and gpu.
    :(

What settings are you using in BC2? Bump it down to Medium and see how it is.

here are what my settings look like I know we have diff cards but try to match these or tweak them accordingly the main ones to change are DXversion and renderaheadlimit also you can put your water to low and your bloom and hbao off and other tweaks to this but I have no issues never drop below 60. your Settings.ini file Should be under C:/mydocuments/bFBC2 or if not there check your C:/programfiles(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/battlefield folder/somewhere in there :) you could also download the gossamer tweak tool if you cant find the file it will do it for you just make your selections and save here is the link http://www.daglgaming.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=6
