    Hello, and welcome!

I too recently asked myself these questions and purchased a cooling pad and a bag for my new M17X R3. I ended up getting an Astro Scout backpack and a Zalman ZM-NC2000. The cooler is a little on the expensive side, but my R3 barely hangs off the edges and it's really quiet. The reviews online were excellent and I figured since I bought a higher end rig I might as well support it with such.

I haven't received the backpack yet, but shipping was around ~$13 USD. I expect it to also be very good, given the reviews around the web.

kk i've check the bag it looks like made for xbox + ps3 ... but it looks great !

and the zalman i've read someone in amazon did results

    Conclusions:

Based on its performance, we see a slight drop in operating temperatures, even on my already undervolted laptop. These drops affect the processors and the ACPI by as much as 6 or 7 degrees Celsius, however, the average was around 3-4 degrees.

i wonder if there is any better performance ! :)

Ok, well this isnt a top of the range Cooler but it keeps my temps well below 60 even after a marathon 7hr session on BFBC2.

Problem is, its not all that portable. But the biggesr t pro is being able to place the fans accordingly to get the most effective cooling effect. As for the bag, if i didnt have the Alienware backpack, which is a great bag, i'd def go for the Astro scout.

Just an update for you. I received my bag today and it looks pretty good. It fits the R3, a little tight, and also I can fit the cooler in the main compartment without any problems and still have enough room for other accessories. The inside of the laptop compartment is lined with a very short haired looking lining that is extremely soft and the area is well padded. For the short time I had it on it was very comfortable to wear and the build quality seems excellent. Pretty impressed with it so far.

If you are into the whole zen thing try this:
    DEEPCOOL - Notebook Cooler - N2600
Also cool matts (for people) in China are made from bamboo chips and actually work so maybe this cooling pad will have good performance for your computer. Dunno what kind of fan comes with it though.
