I plan on getting one of these bad boys within the next few weeks. After reading some posts, I would like to get as little as possible from Dell as I can. If there is anything that I can input after market I would love to know. Here are the Specs I plan on getting from Dell.
    CPU
    Intel® Core™ i7 2720QM 2.2GHz (3.3GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
    Ram
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (2DIMMS)
    Graphics
    2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6970M
    HD
    320GB 7,200RPM HDD
    Display
    17.3-inch WideFHD 1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
    Wireless
    Wireless 802.11 g/n
    Drive
    Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

The Ram I will upgrade to 16g HyperX. I may change out the Wireless Card to something better, if this is possible. Is the 2820QM worth the extra $200? After looking at the specs online they do not seem all that different. Can I opt for the 6870M and then input the 6970M myself?

Any advise on options that I can do after I buy the beast would be greatly appreciated.

I would second that. That is exactly the configuration that I ordered. I figure I can purchase the ram and a SSD later on.

After reading some more reviews and product details I will go with the 2720, 6970, 1080 and change the ram to 16g and up the wireless card once I receive it.

How easy is replacing the wireless card? It's only 80 dollars, so how much money are you really saving? Secondly, why is everyone taking the 2720QM? The 2630QM already does enough for gaming that it's barely a difference. Are you guys doing any rendering on your pcs?

Decent clock increase for not much of an increase in price.

I am also doing rendering on my PC.

The true reason I want the 2720 is because it will allow me to use 16g 1600. If I remember correctly with the 2630 you can only use 1333.

I don't like being bottlenecked by hardware, especially when I have the resources to get past this. If this is correct then I will get the base 4g ram and go for 4x4g sticks of HyperX.

Something else I forgot to ask, I did not see this online when I built a moc laptop. Is it possible to buy an extra 9 cell battery? I doubt I will need it, I always like to have a spare for those weird situations.
