I am looking to Purchase a M17X soon in a month or two.
I am a big Nividia Fan so i would like to stick with those GPU;s.
I am looking to spend 5-6K on this laptop.

I am heavy into Flight Sim X. This laptop would be built around that Sim, to make it the best one out there for it. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

You should probably wait for the 400 series of Nvidia cards.

    $5000-$6000 on a laptop = insane.

I can configure a desktop for you that will destroy any $6000 laptop for only $1200-$1500 (with 1-2 monitors!)

I honestly think you should stick to an Asus G73JW if you really want mobile gaming, but not to invest in it so much. Keep it at stock configuration, and maybe add an SSD, and invest the rest in a beautiful desktop with 3 monitors.

I am currently deployed and a laptop is the best choice for me right now.

400 Series ...o o ..explain!!! I have been out of the GPU game for about a year.

The 400-series is Nvidia's new lineup of graphics card, using the brand new "Fermi" core. AMD/ATI has been the leader of mobile performance for quite some time now. Have you checked out the Asus G73JW?

Laptop lover here, If your looking to spend that type of dough there is a brand new x7200 clevo machine with sli nvidia 480m and 980x intel desktop processor, fastest processor on earth, not derailing your thread though the m17x might get a 6xxx processor soon enough from amd possibly and couple that with raided SSDs, RGB screen, blue ray and 8 gigs of ram and you have close to 5k with discounts I'm sure. Check out the review of the sager/clevo here. There of course are a few threads in the sager/clevo forums. Also the known PSU problem is only when the machine is pushed to extreem limits and clevo is working on a fix.

Fast, but short lived with current PSU if you opt for the 980x.

I Know FSX is more CPU intensive than GPU, so the clock speed is what I need, with lots of ram. 8+gigs would be preferred.

Clevo is a company that manufactures notebooks, they have sold barebones to alienware before it was bought by dell. Clevo is known for there build quality and is regarded by most as the best built laptops around. From what I understand they sell to resellers who sell to the public. Iv never owned one of there laptops but Id like one!

You can get one maxed out for $5-6k, but keep in mind it's not completely problematic-free yet. The power supply that is included with the system doesn't seem to hold up when you opt for the 980x cpu and dual 480m's in SLI.

Ok there are 3 resellers that are selling the x7200 by clevo. One is xoticpc.com, then we have avadirect.com, then we have originpc.com. Now If I wanted to get an x7200 for the best support Id go with xoticpc, but If I wanted to get the x7200 with hdmi in, which lets you hook up other devices to the laptop like ps3/xbox or blueray players then Id go with originpc cause origins has hdmi in and the others dont.

Also the psu problem anodize keeps pointing out is about the Watts going over the limit of the PSU'S(AC adapter/powersuply) capabilities thus turning off the PSUs breaker limit. This dosn't hinder the machine in any way and everything else is 100% working. It is how ever something to look into and ask questions about before puchasing in the sager/clevo forums here at Notebookreview.

Also for your needs, FSX a single gpu solution would be more appropriate and logical. Something like the Asus G53JW which will release for shipping early in november, or something like an alienware m15x. They arnt anywhere near 5-6k though. For your needs, a machine like an Hewlett packard(HP) elitebook can reach 5k, with a IPS display and a firepro/quadro video card which would play FSX just fine but are more suited for art/cad/adobe stuff photo stuff too along with the dell precision m6500 laptop which is similar to the HP but it has a RGB LED screen instead of the IPS.

While the x7200 offers an eye popping performance, it's not perfect. The screen, I believe, is made by Hannstar and is inferior to Alienware's RGB LED display and judging by the pics posted on NBR, the overall build quality of the machine leaves much to be desired compared to that of the M17X. You also get next business day support /w Alienware. Not sure about how Clevo and its resellers repair your laptop if it goes south.

I myself have moved away from Clevo/Sager because of the build quality. I have not tried the X7200 but i have owned the NP8662, W860CU, and the D900F... The best being the NP8662 and the worst being the W860CU. After i bought a M17X i don't think i will ever go back, the build quality is the best, and the customer support is even better. I had a problem with one the GPU's and Dell sent out a technician to repair it! I had several problems with my W860CU and i had to ship it back and forth paying about $50 each way.

So, long story short yes the Asus and Clevo machines are cheaper but the premium you pay for an Alienware system is worth it, Customer support is my top priority and Dell (yeah i know...DELL) is of the best.

Although i am not sure if you can get a FX card in an alienware system.

I have owned 3 Clevo's the latest one was the one before this machine. I find them totally over rated and their build quality is not good at all. They have tons of issues with their headphone jacks breaking after 2 / 3 months, they also have issues with their keyboard input, ie lag and keystroke loss. Not an opionion, but general concesus. I have been most impressed with Dell's build quality. My favourite being the old Vostro 1500, shame the spec's were never that great. I know Dell / alienware have used Clevo in the past, the good thing about this is Dell have a great customer service/warrenty for the laptops, which i garuantee you will need if you got a machine built on a clevo chaissis
