Any suggestions? There used to be a general information thread stickied, but I couldn't find it...

I was wondering the same thing.. Normally I just go with Corsair Ram but figure there are people here that have done the benching to determine the best to use.

yeah I'd hate to throw something in that slows down the system :).

I'm looking to pick up 2 4GB sticks. Since I'm overclocking the FSB to 1333, I'd imagine it would make sense to pick up 1333 MHz RAM...

I'm curious as well, as my RAM seems to be the only thing holding my system back. I have a 5.9 WEI on ram, but I have 4 gigs of 1066 memory. Would upgrading to 8 gigs of 1333 even matter since I can't reach memory frequencies that high on my Q9000?

I have the same specs as your R1 chiefs. With my 8gigs of 1333Mhz ram I score 7.3 in the WEI. The WEI uses the size and amount of ram you have + speed counts for a little bit too.

    Cheers. :)

I just made the purchase yesterday. Newegg used to have the G.Skill 1333Mhz (PC-10666) at $179.99-$20 instant discount = ~$160. Now they have it for $165 with a free $27 LED light. I called them and told them that I missed the $20 last time and called them the day after it expired and their rep. offered me $10 credit (which he did). They still honor that $10 promise and now I get this G.Skill for $155 with a free $27 LED light. Heheehe....you can try and call them up repeating the same thing.

Well....you can call them and say you missed their $20 off last time (don't mention about it was listed at $179 vs $165 now) and ask for $10 courtesy credit. Now you can get it for $155 plus you get to mess around with the $27 LED light :) . I don't know what it's for and why it costs $27, but it's free....you know.

yeah just tried calling and no dice. I might just order it anyways. If it's $15 cheaper than it used to be, that's good enough for me :)

So I went ahead and upgraded my RAM with what I posted above. Works great. Civ is much more responsive now. Not a HUGE difference, but noticeable. Just what I was looking for :). Thanks for all the responses, everyone!

Just so you know, the WEI for RAM is bottlenecked by your processor. The faster the Processor, the better your RAM score will be.

My WEI increased to somewhere around 6.5 from 5.9. Total is still 5.9 due to hdd bottlenecks.

Good thing WEI is a useless benchmark.
