    Hi,

I've been a happy M17 R3 owner for a while but I've recently noticed that the power jack socket is slightly looser than it used to be. I've also been getting intermittent 'power adapter not determined' issues so I'm guessing they're related and that it will likely get worse eventually. I'm getting a new adapter just in case its an adapter problem but if it isn't then I'm wondering if
the power jack socket is fixable/replaceable? A look on ebay on shows plenty of R1/2 power jack sockets (although there are two different types it seems) but none for R3s?

I'm kinda hoping this doesn't need to needing a motherboard replacement anytime soon.

If anyone has any experience or advice it would be appreciated.

They should be similar i believe since they take the same jack dimensions. A loose jack can cause pcb damage and sparking as time goes on.

This could be the situation. I would recommend you to take it to a local store if you don't have a warranty.

How loose is loose? Even my new 17 I can grab the power jack and kind of wiggle it, there is room for it to move up and down it isn't like it just goes in and is locked there with no room to flex.

It could be same issue as for our r2's where re-soldering is the solution.

There has been plenty discussions about this in here before, and should be possible to find.
