I've got an odd problem with my M17xR4. I recently did a fresh install, and am using the current drivers for the sound blaster recon that are on Dells site.

Problem is that randomly while playing CSS the sound stops coming from the onboard speakers. And I mean completely stops - all sound, in game or out of game can not be heard. The volume control seems to be working, and I can see where it looks like it should be playing, but I can't hear anything. A reboot clears the problem up.

Any ideas where to start solving this?

Check your C: drive for a folder called Windows.old

If you have it, you'll need to re-install Windows again and delete/recreate the partitions to get rid of it. If you don't, try re-installing the audio driver:

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Audio driver, then download and install the latest one on Dell.com

Try that and let us know how it goes.
