Make sure that the laptop is not in stealth mode. Does it perform badly in all games or only Crysis 2?

I played C2 in 3D very comfortably, though I did have a problem with witcher 2 which turned out to be a compatability issue and was fixed by disabling the Nvidia 3D service........known issue

when I have an issue I alway use 3Dmark06 to check that my system is running correctly.

You can disable the stealth mode by pressing the stealth mode button on the touch sensitive control panel (the buttons on the hindge cover).

Probably not, you just have the computer in the wrong power mode. Disable stealth mode (see my previous post) and set the computer to high performance mode.

    *Open Alienware command center
    *Press on Alien Fusion
    *Select High Performance Mode

When you press the stealth mode button, there will flash an icon on the screen.

AlienFusion will have the word "Stealth mode" written somewhere on the screen in the alienware control panel if you are in stealthmode.

At this point I think there could be something wrong with your GPU. I think you should call Dell and let them run some diagnosis on the computer.

Does system lack performance in other areas/games? My system had similar issues and Dell ran test that turned out a bad CPU and MBoard. Give Dell Tech a call.

    Or do it yourself.
Run Heaven to check GPU Then run 3dmark06 or similar to test CPU.

At this moment they said they are going to send me a new replacement. Had some issues with them processing my replacement after it was agreed upon (It was just a mess of confusion) but yes I will be getting a new replacement because they couldn't find a outlet system with my same specs.

They originally offered outlet with different specs which I refused and requested a return. They called back two days later with a new system order.

Same specs or better is what they said. I guess finding the blu-ray drive and the 6970m from the outlet wasnt possible. It was a frustrating week and not worth it.

The Dell tech should be able to test if your CPU is bad. Took 20 minutes. See what they say.

3D is kind of over rated, like hollywood and its 99.9% fail 3D movies(Avatar was an exception).

Well, the idea itself is great, its just trying to play alot of the current 3D games with the 460m is hard to play while maintaining 30+ fps.

Now only if we had the 580m standard for 3D....

I don't understand why Alienware still puts the 460m in R3's when it sucks AND is outdated, it's about time that they at least put in a 560m, it is even more ridiculous when trying to play in 3D on a terrible graphics card. I want to switch to the 580m once it gets 3D, maybe that will help!

I hear you. I've been waiting for the 560m since June when it was supposed to come to Alienware. Currently there's no mid-range option for people who want Nvidia. They better hurry up!
