Guys,
I decided to write a new post as I end up with over brightness screen and after so many hours trying to solve this issue, I still have my RGB over brightened.
My config:
Model: M17x R2
CPU: 920xm
MEM: 8GB corsair
VGA: DELL 7970m from Eurocom purchased via ebay
HDD: Samsung 840 256GB
Screen: RGB
PSU: 240W
I was using my laptop for monts without any singe issue taking him to my friend playing games (approx 3-4 months).
Yesterday I traveled within Europe and when powered on my laptop first time in new place, I have got an extremaly bright screen.
As I often read this forum I use RTJ vbios and flash my card (this helped one user here).
Unfortunately did not help in my case so I raversed the vbios back to the original that was uploaded by eurocom.
I did not try to install a new system as this issus is present all the time, therefore new system won't help here.
I tried to install new ATI drivers but was unsuccessful again.
I don't want to damage my RGB screen (card is pushing 120Hz probably), and I have no idea how to get back this card working again.
Guys, pease help, you are my last hope!
I can try to use another bios for 7970m and card manufacturer by Dell,if someone can kindly send me one.

Thanks Fr. Fox but with your bios is still the same.
The only chnage I noticed when start flashing the vbios is that there no more full white screen (with sigle, dual or triple horizontal lines) and now ony brightness issue is present.
I have a feeling that my card damaged the screen as I have no other idea.
I am soo disappointed. -
Hmmmm, a full power drain worked in my friends case, but I think that is coincidence, but if you are desperate you can try
-
I tried as well and nothing really change. I actually back to the same place I was before. I was hoping that gpu flash changed something, but I was wrong. I am still getting full white screen or screen that is ok but just extra bright.
Now I removed the battery fully and will try later on.
As well I tried reflash from A10 to A9 and still same.
Disassembly laptop and check the cable from LCD to graphic, no change.
I simply run off the ideas. The only what left is my spare 4870 that I will try on 2nd January unless you guys went through the same pain and found a solution.
My laptop is still under warranty until March 2013 so I think this would be the only case if after 4870 I have excatly the same issue with my screen.
If with my old 4870 I will get a normal screen, then 7970 is faulty ... -

I have added two pictures of my screen in first post.
When hooked my laptop via HDMI everything is ok, just when using an internal screen the brightness is terribly high.
Now I have difficulty to catch a full white screen as simply won't occur. I will add next time when happen. -
Ok to HDMI, can't see it being the GPU.....Could be the screen.
Try another GPU.

Read this post here.
Is that the same BIOS you flashed? If not, give it a shot, its worth a try. -
Hi guys,
Another day fighting with my screen and yes @Nospheratu I did reflash my 7970 with vbios from TI_RJT as first action when I saw a white screen., Unfortunately did not help.
Right now I have both 4870 in my laptop and still with brightness issue, therefore it's not a graphic card for sure.
I think I end up with exactly the same issue as user @flingin and nothing can help me as only new screen
In the meantime I send two emails to Eurocom (end of Dec and today and nothing heard back).
I read a nice story as how Eurocom helped @BA0701 user that have had screen issue when working with 7970m and on the end he got 680m fitted instead 7970m.
Is this the only way to use RGB screen without risk of burning it?
Now the following question I believe need to be set and answered by someone::
- why 7970m is damaging RGB screen and what is the permanent fix for this issue?
- why on ebay auction for 7970m card there is a note for R2 users to use A09 bios?
HD7970M Alienware M17x M18x VGA Upgrade Kit Dell HD7970M 2GB DDR5 CF Ready | eBay
- is there any correlation between A10 bios for m17 R2 and faulty RGB screen?
- would I burn my new RGB screen again (when replaced) if I have A09 bios and original vbios from Eurocom?
- do I need to reflash vbios with the one that was modded by TI_RJT?
- can someone tell us what is going on as I think there are R2 users with no extended warranty and may still have their RGB screen working correctly (until 7970 gonna blow them to hell)?
I don't want to say that but in my case I feel like: this is your card and your problem.
Sorry for annoying post guys ....

Where did you use the computer for months? Where did you travel within Europe?
Also, if the issue does not happen on the exteral screen is definitely the LCD the one that went bad. -
I did travel for Christmas to Poland to see my family and when switched on my laptop first time I found a whitish RGB screen or screen that was very bright.
I excluded graphic card as defective component because I have excatly the same issue when running on two 4870.
Now waiting for Dell support to run a diagnostic software and confirm faulty parts, then hopefully RGB will be replaced.
I am just disapointed that there is lack of information why RGB screens are damaged when running with 7970m and what is the permanent fix for this issue.
I simply don't want to fry another RGB screen! -
