I am currently at the moment torn between the M14X and the M17X r3. The only real issue is carrying weight.

How do you other owners find carrying the m17 around like? I currently have a macbook pro aluminium 15" and carry it all the time with no problems, to very long distances. So do you think it would be ok to carry this around?

R3 is around 9-10 lbs. MBP 15 is around 5-6 lbs. Having owned both machines, I will tell you that R3 is significantly heavier than MBP 15. But having said that, I don't have any problem carrying my R3 around.

Like someone said before me, if you have issues carrying this laptop around, you should probaly get down the local gym. While heavy then most laptops and those in its class, its still just a laptop and is no problem to carry around. I take mine with me to work and back on a daily basis, along with the Charger, mouse, HDD and gaming headset.

My total bag weight is most likely 20-30lbs and I carry it around everywhere :)

Hehe your right, I used to have to carry books and weirdly enough a hookah/shisha pipe all over the place with my laptop, so i should be good. I can consider the laptop a fitness regime.

    Lol built like an ox!

That is quite low if I'm delivering something ;) I'll throw the laptop on the shoulder and carry around a server, ups, etc along with it. Sometimes I run out of hands and start tying things to my bag lol.

But please tell me is R3 considerably lighter than R2? I am scheduled to receive one and I am at wits end as to what to expect because though i can carry around the R2, it has been far less comfortable for me to travel through airports wherein we have to remove it out of the bag etc.

I really suffered the last time when i was late for my flight.

Weight is not the issue in terms of strength. I am 5 '3 weighing a thick 80kg. You be sure I am no stick in terms of power to lift. Its an issue for me ergonomically. Tell me if you are comfortable to grab an R2 with one hand holding it by its edge as you may do a 2-3kg notebook. Most likely you wont. You would handle it with both hands most of the time. I wish they kept it under 4kg with adapter. The adapter is another huge space consuming device.

I dont know..I am hard pressed to take stock of things once it arrives. The problem is everything else in Dell line is horribly lousy. I wish they had the old Dell XPS models like M1530s etc...Powerful and classy.

With chicken legs? Don't laugh lots of people that bench don't do anything else. I do mostly Squats and Deadlift.
