    is this a pre dell m17 or the dell m17x im confused. My friend bought a barebones off of ebay and was wondering cause if its the dell m17,We were gonna throw dual 5870s in it lol.     That's the pre-Dell Alienware m17x revision 1. You can't put 5870s in there. You can find MXM 2.1 cards like two GTX 285m's (I think) to put in there but the interface has to be MXM 2.1. The current generation 3.0 cards won't fit.

    Ouch. MXM 2.1 285M's are so rare and expensive. They'd still be kinda worth it if he could find them cheap but dayum. Didn't they still use dedicated master/slave cards back in those days?

    The parts can be obtained from Ztronics.com. It is indeed a pre-DELL system. The Alienware Corp label says it all.
