I recently installed Virtual DJ ( VIRTUAL DJ SOFTWARE - MP3 Mixing Software) for live music mixing and to my surprise the keyboard is not recognized by the software. Im guessing its a driver issue but even after reinstalling the keyboard driver from dell.com it doesnt appear in the list of options to control the software :(

Any ideas what can be causing this? The keyboard is working perfectly as far as i can tell.

    Ideas?

    thanks!

Sounds to me more a VDJ issue than anything else. Have u tried their forums?
Also, traktor is much cooler IMHO :D

The only reason I havent is because i have it installed on my desktop as well and it works fine. Thats why i think it might be a driver issue. What else can i try?

I know Traktor is far superior, sadly it is way more expensive :S

don't think it's hardware issue, your kb is working fine other then that doesn't it ?
that leads me to the conclusion that it's the software that is faulty just like i said b4

I just visited dell.com and the bios upgrade only shows version A05.. where did you find A09? is your machine m17x or the R2 model?

As for Asio4all, i have no idea what it does.. So, no, i dont use it. Is this something i might need?

    thanks

I went ahead and downloaded what i think is the driver from dell's site (KG900 Alienware TactX Keyboard - R226476.zip 375 mb). Upon installation I noticed it only installed the software for it but not the driver...

Where can i find this driver? Cant seem to find it in the downloads section.. :S

    help!

There is no driver for a keyboard. Just the generic one windows uses. What you downloaded is a software for the external aw keyboard.

Oh I see.. I guess my only other choice is a fresh install :(

I'll check the device manager when I get home and see if its working properly or if i can update the driver... thanks for the info!

This is what my device manager looks like in the keyboard section..

Does this look right to you? Why so many devices instead of just one? Could this be my issue?

Oh ok. Good to know its normal.. and to answer your question, no, I have not been able to solve it. Im guessing the only solution would be a fresh install of windows, hopefully.

I guess i better start backing up..
