    Hi,

I've had one of these lying around for a while, and just ordered my r4 Monday, so I was wondering if it would be more efficient to have to fans blow the air into the laptop or suck air away from it, and what position on the cooler would be best to place the fans?

    Thanks!

The fans suck air in from the vents on the bottom of the laptop and blow it out the rear. The best set up for the U3 would be one fan blow air at each of the vents. The remaining fan can blow air at the little vent that's beside the nameplate.

So I shouldn't suck air out of the vents by modding the fan?

No, that would pull air away from the vent, essentially doing the opposite of what the fan in the laptop is doing. If you wanted to extract air, the place to do it would be at the rear vents.
To reverse the direction of airflow, you just need to flip them over. No modding required ;)

Why would you want to starve the laptop of air?

The blower style fans have their intake on the bottom and blow out on the rear. Position one of each of the fans underneath each intake vent on the right and left side to the laptop with the third fan in the middle of the laptop or wherever you want it to be.

I use the U3 with my R2 and it helps keep temps down...to an extent... (My machine overheats as is, but it keeps that from happening for a considerable amount of time. :p)
