Hi all. I am a noob on this forum. I am going to get an alienware as i have wanted one for years and years and now am able to afford one... pretty excited about it. I want to get a m17x R3, but i have a couple of questions regarding the available GPUs in this unit.

I have a 63" samsung plasma 3d tv that i would like to hook this laptop up to for some 3d gaming with. I haven't had a 3d computer before so here are my questions:

    1) is the radeon 6970 capable of outputting a 3d signal for gaming to an external HDMI 1.4 TV? or is the Nvidia only able to do this?

    2) for 3d, is the nvidia 3d vision software much better than the amd supported Tridef?

    3) Since these cards can only output 720p to an external hdmi 1.4 monitor, will the Nvidia 460m be fine to play most games on at 720?

    1. No. Only nVidia and the R3 only offers the 460m.

    2. No, they do the same thing.

    3. Yes the 460m will run games fine at that.
