    M17X Problem.

    Hello people, i would like to request some help from the pros..
    My alienware's screen would sometimes lag, and the audio will statter, so does the mouse cursor, after a few seconds, everything becomes normal/smooth. What is the cause of this? Can i have some opinions from you guys? thanks :)!!

    My computer information :
    M17X-R2
    8GB RAM
    Intel Core i7 1.73ghz - Not overclocked.
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870

    I would delete the whole OS, format the HDD, reinstall the OS, and then the drivers.

    You mean format the whole computer and redownload the drivers?

    when did this start happening i.e., did it start after you installed something or dropped the laptop etc...was there a memorable event and after this event, these things started happening? can you do a system restore to some previous point?

    No i didnt drop my laptop or etc.. It just happened out of the sudden.

    I would check hard drive condition first with checkdisk and also check if rhere are any error codes in its memory. Only after that would reinstall windows.

    How long have you had the computer? Maybe you need to take some compressed air and clean out the vents? I know my old Asus had an issue with it overheating and underclocking the processor.

    If it did it all of a sudden, I wouldnt think that would be something with the OS, but it may be.. I'd try a defrag and a clean first of all, and then see if there is any processes in the background eating your memory, you may have spyware or a virus that is eating away at your processing power.

    ^^^^ agreed, cleaning the vents and fans should be the first thing to try.
    recommend downloading a temp monitoring program like hwinfo to check temps.

    also recommend a power drain too.

    Hey guys, thanks for the help! I defragged my computer and then i used a fan to blow it occasionally and this problem stopped happening, thanks so much!!!!!!!!!
