I resently bought a m17x R1 on craigslist and decided I wanted to upgrade to the 260m. I uninstalled the driver software and proceeded to remove the video card with no issues. Installed the 260m that I bought from Ebay along with the thermal coppers to replace the old... And the issues begin....

I have read every forum and tried every version of the driver for the 260m that I can find, along with editing the ini files for them to actually proceed with the install. Problem is, it still shows my 9400 in the device manager and HWInfo64. I also am not able to boot the computer with the power adapter connected, I'm assuming due to the issues with the install and it still showing only a single 9400 in the device manager...

I am looking for any help possible, any tips or ideas are welcome.

*Sidenote - Is there a reason that Hybrid Graphics and Integrated Graphics in the BIOS are greyed out? Is it because I am not being able to install the drivers for the 260?

Also, for anyone that would prefer, my skype is tehmorbid001.

    Thanks!

BIOS is not effected by drivers. If those are greyed out the 260 isn't working properly. You should see both the 9400 and the 260 in device manager at the same time. I think your 260m is faulty...

Can you explain why you are unable to start with the power adapter? Do you get a power adapter warning at startup? If so, update BIOS to latest version (A07). gthirst is right I think there's something wrong with the installation of the 260m. The BIOS options shouldn't be greyed out. Check physical install of card first. Which nvidia driver version did you manage to install for the 9400? In attachment, you find 2 modded files for latest 314.07 version (overwrite in displaydriver dir after first unpack, then run setup again. View attachment nvidia314.07-9400-260m.zip

Try reseating the card, if both options are grayed out it's probably because the 260m is not being recognized.

I guess it is not faulty

disable your integrated graphics in BIOS
dont worry if the discrete graphics are disabled and greyed out

    and reboot

your nvidia will pop up in windows

thats what my ATI radeon HD4870 does

Query: when you boot up, I assume you still have the AC connector connected at some point, because if not, your battery would have died a long time ago. On the power meter, does it show that it is running on battery mode, but the power level is not dropping due to it being plugged in? Also, it is not charging as well?
