    Hi everyone,

I have a M71XR1 with an Intel Wifi link 4965AGN MM1 card and Gigabit Ethernet and when ever I try to connect to a network I get the receiver won't accept the connection, even on wired. I've changed settings on the wifi to b/g just to make sure it wasn't on N only but it gives me the same response on any setting, it really puzzled me when I got the same response hooking it up with cat5e to my router it still gave me receiver won't accept connection.

Anyone with ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    Thanks in advance!!!

Under the WIRED connection's advanced properties, try disabling "Device Sleep On Disconnect"

I hope that fixes the issue.

As Narko said, some weird issue with the nvidia chipset, that when the network card sleeps it prevents connection on any wireless card, pain.

I have a similar issue. However, I can connect to the web via LAN until she goes to sleep. After a wake she no longer recognizes the router much less doesn't connect to the web. My fix to this is to restart or don't let it sleep.

For my wifi I've tried a couple things but no dice. Nothing works as far as wifi, it doesn't even connect. It does recognize networks just wont connect.

Glad I'm not the only one with connection issues too bad we do have them :(

@projekt1, did you try what Narko suggested?

side note: change your sig from 880m to 280M, 880m is 2 gens ahead of the next gen :)

What Projekt1 posted should fix this issue!

    There's also another work around:

Uninstall the nVIDIA Ethernet driver by clicking the Start(Orb) button, pointing to Settings > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Select nVIDIA Drivers and double click.

When the Removed NVIDIA Components window displays, click the radio button next to Remove only the following.

Check the box next to NVIDIA Ethernet Diver Components.

    Click Remove.

    Restart the computer.

Or do not install this driver with a fresh windows install.

Thanks for all the input, before I got back to your answers I installed the 4965 in the 2nd pcie slot then that didn't work so i installed a usb WiFi adapter downloaded W7 SP1 and updates and installed IE9 and then I unplugged the usb and the 4965 worked fine since, weird probably just needed SP1 and updates. I thought it had all that but I just acquired this laptop and am learning it. Thanks again for all your input and time those tips reminded me of techniques to follow as a standard when things don't work. Happy New Year all!!! :D

    Yes but didn't work.

No luck from this method either. W7 just reinstalls it automatically after the restart.

Do this and uninstall it again after:

Press the start button and type in the search box ' change device installation settings'

Click it and you should have two options to choose from

Click to choose the second one ( 'No,let me.....')

This should expand with 3 options Choose 'Never install driver software from Windows update'

    Click on Save changes.

Yep this worked... It still tried to install the driver after restart but I didn't. Now the laptop can go in Sleep mode and not loose the network connection when waken.

    Thanks katalin and everyone else.
