    I was wondering if it's ok to upgrade to win8 with a m17x r1, single 260m.
Is there any general issue with it? Should i avoid the upgrade?.
I had some freeze problems with the preview version, but it should have been cause by the nvidia driver not yet compatible with win8, are they working now?.
    Thank you.

Why don't you give it a try and let us know how it works.
If you run into issues we can sort them out together.

Yeah, go ahead and we'll help if anything comes up. I'd recommend a clean installation instead of an upgrade though, upgrades are more likely to bring trouble later on. By clean install I mean delete all partitions before installing Windows 8, just be sure to backup your files first.

On a side note, the M17x R1 is not a Windows 8 supported platform, which means you may need to get some 3rd party drivers for certain components but we'll get to that later if you want to give it a shot.

I'll be right there with you. I'm thinking of upgrading my R1 this weekend from Win7 to Win8.

Yeah I was busy with an exam in these days, but now I'm free and I will try to install it on a different partition.

I have installed windows 8. The only issues you may run into are the following

    Broadcom Bluetooth 370
    Video card support

When you install the os be sure the software you have will work. the nvidia drivers I recommend installing is the 295.xx. If you try any unsupported driver be sure you set the os to accept signed or unsigned drivers. If you install any of the newer nvidia drivers your gpu fans may not work correctly. Furthermore to see if any of your software is compatible here is a link.

Windows Compatibility Center: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads for Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows 7

I personally have both windows 7 and 8 on my system so I can use my old software .
