Hi,
I have a M17X R2 with two HD7970m in crossfire. It run fine in Windows 10 64bit with the amd 16.2 driver, but anything newer than that cause a very fast BSOD at boot. Like 5 to 10 second after getting to desk, i get the bsod with "thread stuck in device driver".
I have tried to delete all the old driver with DDU and install some new one, 17.1 / 17.7 / 17.9.1 ... they all do the same thing. The cards run, i get my 1920*1200 screen and all that but suddently the computer crash ... I managed to be fast enought to disable ulps, it didn't change anything ...
Do someone have an idea ?
Right now all it's left is go by a 7970m bios with stock voltage and not 975mv by slv7, but it has been running fine for years now, even mining ethereum for a bit and not a single problem. I can play for hours with the 16.2 driver, no problem at all ...
I don't understand.

So i found a sollution for the auto update system of windows 10, that always want to install the latest driver and obviously get me in trouble.

Seeing as the issue is with Windows 10 Auto Updates on your video Driver, you can stop Windows 10 updating that particular driver if you are running Windows 10 Pro and can get into Group Policy - Click HERE for a Step-by-Step on how to do that . . .
