    hi all
ive been doing some reading and i may be purchasing a m17x with only a single 5870 and i was wondering how much it would cost/ how i go about getting the parts
i have seen 5870m's on ebay for rather high prices but they are just the gpu and im not sure if they would work (thought i read somewhere the gpus had to have a dell specific bios) so i may have to order them from dell :|
this is only a maybe though as the one i am purchasing (refurb) the store may upgrade it for me but we shall have to see....hopefully though

so yeah any ideas on prices and where i can get the parts from and has anyone actually done this with 5870m's

Between 300 and 400 if you look carefully enough. The Crossfire cable might be a little more though.

If you buy a second GPU make sure to buy one that has the complete assembly (ie... gpu card, heatsink and CROSSFIRE CABLE).

Finding the heatsink and crossfire cable is nothing buy an exercise in frustration that will waste months of your time with no results (unless you get EXTREMELY lucky like a few people have)

$300 for the fan, heatsink, CF cable, and GPU? That is a great deal. Congratulations man.

That's a great deal indeed, by the way i was one of the lucky ones as described by debaucher but, indeed, it took me 5 weeks to get everything together from all places of the globe.

You can get everything you need through dell for around $375-$400.
