Ive been told by the DELL salesman, categorically, that the 2R cannot have a second GPU added after purchase.

    Strange, but true????

You can add a second card after purchase. You can either buy it from Dell or somwhere else. You need the fan, heatsink, GPU, and a CrossFire or SLI cable. Don't know your specs, but I've seen many secondary GPUs on eBay that come with everything you need.

I gaurantee you it's possible, and VERY common.
    I upgraded a month ago. Added a 2nd 4870 with crossfire.
There's loads of people here who did it.
Heck, it's not even an aftermarket upgrade, you can order the parts from dell ><

They probably want you to purchase a completely new system :p

Sometimes you get dell salesmen like that, you can buy everything you need from dell if you want. Just call them back and try to get a different salesman. Dell once quoted me $375 for everything i needed and that included the 240 watt power adapter. Or like others said you can get everything you need on ebay.

Not really! be carefil if you buy a second card without the m17x heatsink and the SLi/CF cable as Dell won't sell you those separately(without buying a second card).
