After struggling on the phone for a few hours with Alienware support, they finally agreed to switch out my buggy R2 for an R3. They didn't give me the specs on the machine yet, but I had a fully upgraded R2. So what specs do you think they will give me on the R3?

If by a fullly upgraded R2 you mean with an xtreme processor and 2x5870 in CF then I'd recommend your try getting the m18x since the R3 won't be able to match the performance of ur current system.

Believe me, I did. They would not listen to my charms.

Edit: Yes, 940 XM and 5870 Crossfire and the works.

R2 is a downgrade in performance, you had dual video cards, the only comparable system right now is the m18x, they will switch it out, ask for managers, RAISE HELL!

They're screwing you over. Don't accept an M17x-R3, fight for an M18x which is the proper successor.

I would never give up my R2 system for my R3 system. we're talking easily 1,000 dollar difference.
