Hey guys I have just done the retention clip mod and repasted my cpu and gpu, the gpu temps dropped by about 20c which made me really bloody happy :) they once peaked at about 90c and now stay down around 69c under load on BF3. The cpu is a 940xm so I expected it to run hotter than the 720qm, it sits around 44c idle and gos up to around 79-80c under load.

ANYWAY - I have a SF-19 cooler and that is helping, however I also run the 3 fans in the m17x r2 flat out nearly all the time to keep things as cool as possible  , lets cut to the chase here lol are there replacement fans we can use in the m17x r2 that go to a higher rpm or flow better than the stock ones?

Unfortunately, no, I've been looking into this for the past year.
So no unless you do some major modifications :/
