    Hi,

    So I've just gotten my M17X R3, I'm loving it but I'm having a rather irritating problem.

    I get random stuttering at certain occasions. (When it happens the sound/image hangs for 1-2 seconds)
    When I'm watching youtube videos, gaming, etc.

    I've been searching for solutions for this issue, but most are out dated.
    Tested my temperatures and they seem to be unrelated to the issue (doesn't happen more at 77°C + and above than at other times).

    I thought it might be a bios problem but I'm at the latest version (I think? Atleast dell shows me A08 at it's website, while I have A09).

    Specs;

    AMD 6990m
    6 gig memory
    Bigfoot Killer network card
    2x 320g HDD's in raid 0
    Intel i7 2760
    Windows 7 - 64-bit

    Example of the problem I'm having;
    Stutter or strange sound on Alienware M17x - YouTube

    Anyone know how to fix this issue?

    Regards, Sej

    I'm not sure, but my M11x does this too. I believe it to be a network issue. Are you on wifi by any chance?

    Yup I am on wifi.

    Gaming atm and not seeing it stutter, it happens with videos (or just opening a links to a new tab in chrome) most of the time imo :/

    It's the wireless card / driver, happened to my old intel 6300 sadly which is the pretty much the same card as the bigfoot

    I never fixed it, I sent back the machine for a full refund and made sure never to touch a Bigfoot or intel 6300 card again.. Sorry man.

    Other people here have working Bigfoots so it may be just a driver issue.

    If not just replace the wireless card yourself or contact dell because it's definitely something that can be fixed with ease.

    Sooo I threw the Killer drivers off of my M17x and I don't have stuttering anymore.
    Tho- now I have BSOD's whenever I connect to wireless.

    I'm seriously regretting taking the Bigfoot wireless card lol ^^

    Hi,
    I had the exact same problem, after spending ages looking at DPC latency fixes what sorted it out for me was to unistall everything related to the bigfoot card, (including manually deleting any folder left in your program files folder, and using ccleaner to remove any remaining reg entries) then installing the latest drivers from dell (dated 27/12/2011 version 6.1.0.219, A02, I believe). I then manually disabled all the bigfoot services and stopped their software running at startup. worked like a charm after that :)
    I knocked up a batch file to restart all the bigfoot services and software for when I wanted to use the advanced features, which I would supply here but my M17x is currently borked after using the Samnung Secure erase tool on my SSDs (but thats a story for another thread!). It was basically a bunch of "net start" commands.
