I just got my new Panasonic P50GT30B plasma and hooked my laptop up to it via HDMI.

Windows recognised the plasma and showed my desktop, however there was a 1-2" black border around the displayed image.

Turning on overscan on the plasma helped a little, but there was still about a 1" gap all around.

Does anyone know why this might be or how I can fix it?

Both the screen on my laptop and the plasma are 1920x1080 and were showing up as such in Windows.

On all of my Screens and TVs i have to specify that a PC is hooked up.
On one i have to change the video format to "just scan" (like this http://www.areadvd.de/images/2011/LG _47LW570S/Menuebilder/18.jpg ).
On another i have to set a label to the input i use (something like this http://www.televisions.com/Images/R...LG/U04_LG_LCD_42LG6000/white/460/IMG_9487.jpg , eg. "PC" on "HDMI1". For some reason these aren't just cosmetic labels for the quickmenu).
After this, Over- and Underscan should be turned to Zero (on your laptop and your TV) if your TV is true 1080p. They cause a loss of quality ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/Effects_of_overscan_on_fixed-pixel_displays.png ).

Try adjusting the overscan on your laptop in your video card settings

I couldn't see any such setting. I read somewhere else just now that it's an aspect ratio setting on the TV.. I'll give that a try in a little while.

Chez, there should be a setting on your TV to output dots as it comes in...meaning if its 1080p, it will output 1080p, if its 480p, it will output at 480p and have black bars on the side. I think this is the setting you need to find on your plasma

There are scaling settings in the AMD CCC as well as the Intel Graphics properties. Adjusting those should fix it. I had a border around my picture when I first connected my laptop to the TV and fixed it in the video options.
