I got my Alienware M17X R3 yesterday, a week and a half early and I must say that I LOVE this laptop, but one thing bothers me, is the keyboard, mostly the T button. The T button pisses me off, as I actually have to press it. As i'm typing all this, 90% of me using the letter T i actually have to go back and press it 3 more times so it shows up. Is anyone else having this problem with their keyboards?

Anyone know an "in-home" solution to fixing this?

    No problems here

I do have 5 major complaints, two of them keyboard related though

    -Thermal paste job is crap
-Keyboard came to me mis assembled
-One area of the middle of the keyboard is ever so slightly sticking up (still) like someone shoved a cable under it
    -Media keys are awful
-Whenever I type hard or tap on the bottom right corner of my laptop I get a rattling sound like there is a disk in the drive or something.. no disk inside, though. Really irks me as it screams cheap quality.

If you really have to type this strong then there are some issues on your keyboard, you should call Dell to have it changed.

Can I just have them come to my place (Philly), because honestly I just finished moving all my media from my Mac to my Alienware, and I REALLY don't want to waste time sending this back.

Perhaps you could put these in the "Making sure my r3 NEWS?" thread or start a " M17XR3 Faults" thread. On the list for a rep - don't know what I did with the others.

Perhaps the thread should be titled " Out of the Box M17XR3 Faults."

If you have issues, CALL and have them corrected. This is the reason for warranty and the main reason for the 21-day policy.

Not trying to say the assembly process is perfect - for Dell or for any manufacturer. Mistakes do happen of course since they are assembled by a live person. Not everyone is going to have these issues.

    -----------------

@REI, call and have them swap out the keyboard. This will likely correct the problem.

So far I have not noticed any problems with mine at all everything is working fine all games are played at there max (bulletstorm, black-ops) keyboard seems fine blue-ray works great and the 3D what little i have used it so far is working. my only complant is you have no control over turbo mode except enable or disabled and you can't control the color of the alien on the back cover. As far as heat goes my XPS M1730 got hotter than this one does. I give it an A.
