Yeah I think they have not updated the description yet but from the version number it really looks like a new version.

Have you tried to install it ?
if so how is it do you here any improvements?
installed new drivers have not noticed any difference yet.
If anyone uses steam for gaming it has it own volume control in you mixer, I was playing homefront and the sound was real low even with my volume set to high had to go back to the mixer and bring the steam volume up. I am not sure how to link it with the main volume.

I tried this new driver. Unfortunately, you lose the IDT Audio Control Panel after installing this new driver. It seems like they purposefully got rid of it.

    If you copy the IDTNGUI.startup

    from

    C:\dell\drivers\R289922\OEM\Dell

    and save it into

    C:\Program Files\IDT\OEM

Then you can run the IDT Audio panel again:

    C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM\IDTNGUI.exe

Without this panel, I don't know how you would get to the audio equilizer...

the Dell Download Manager has issues. Close your browser, Clear your browser cookies, and then go back to the driver page. Click download and instead of download manager, select download via HTTP/browser.

Also, be sure to follow jyang's tip. You will need to copy it (IDTNGUI.startup) over to the C:\Program Files\IDT\OEM directory after you install the new driver.

I don't have the R289922 folder or access to the audio control panel. Where can I download that from?

So can anyone confirm if you lose the Dell IDT Control Panel permanently after installing this new driver?

Doesn't the IDT Control Panel give access to the Waves MAXXAudio features? How are you supposed to access those features without having access to the IDT Control Panel?

Here you go. This was earlier in the thread. As far as I know there is no other way to access the IDT control panel, without doing this after the new update.

So, essentially they removed an entire piece of software with the new patch?

Isn't that a little bit like scamming customers? I expect there to be the IDT Control Panel with the Waves MAXXAudio 3 software functionality that it provides. And now with the new patch, they completely erase that functionality from the laptop?

The way I understand it, is that it is still there, but just not accessible without a little modification.

Well, considering that the main page of the M17x R3 doesn't even advertise the Waves MAXXAudio 3 feature anymore, I'm assuming it was a mistake on Dell's part to include it in the R3 in the first place, and so now they're disabling the functionality completely (with the new patch).

This way, they have a selling point on the new M11x, M14x, and M18x that are coming out which will "feature" the Waves MAXXAudio 3 software.

Sad sad way to do business Dell...

Is there a reason that when I click and drag the draggers all the way to the right (maximum) for Maxx Diaglogue, Maxx Treble, Maxx Bass, etc., nothing actually happens???

Not yet. But what's the point if it doesn't do anything for the speakers???

Winamp/WMP's equalizers make significant differences, but that "Maxx" crap doesn't do anything :( Please advise.

WOW I didn't even know I had an audio control panel till tonight. I thought all we had was the stock windows Audio Control panel in the Task Bar.

I did have to figure out how to "Start" it. I is hiding in Control Panel of all places! Imagine that!

    D'0H!!!
