I've noticed some people saying their M17X R3s shipped from Nashville, TN and others from China.

Is there any consensus on which has the better build quality/quality control or is it just luck of the draw/how bad a day the guy building it was having?

Just wondering as mine arrives soon and shipped from Nashville.

    Thanks
    Chez

Mine seemed to ship out of Chicago, IL. I had ordered an M11x R2 early last year and it shipped out of Chicago as well. I'm not sure if they have a distribution center from there or what, but that's all that I know as far as the origin of the system frmo FedEx tracking.

As for the quality of the system when I received it, everything looked great. These are built to order so there was some paint missing on the screws and the HDD pull flap was crinkled some. I assume since I didn't order the base configuration, they probably took some of the standard build components out and replaced them  I'm not entirely sure how they handle the builds on these from the factory. With all the customization options hardware wise, I assume there is a barebones system they work with (sys board, LCD, etc?) and they just add in the components.

This question has been raised many times... ALL AW laptops are manufacturered and assembled at the same location. The factory is in China. They are not made in the US.
