Hi all,
For a variety of reasons, I have decided to return my M17X R3 rather than face the strains of going about getting it repaired only two days after receiving it. I'm looking into buying another in the future, but thats another story.
Anyway, I spoke to Dell's customer services, and I've had confirmation over the phone that UPS (or whatever courier they choose) will be around a week today to pick it up, and that my refund will be processed thereafter. My question is, do I need to do anything else apart from package the laptop up and have it waiting by my door? Do I need to ask/get written confirmation through email that dell have accepted my decision to return my laptop, and that they will refund me when they receive it back? Should I expect an "official" email from them in the next few days, where the entire return process is laid out? Do I need to include any sort of note in the box so that the people receiving it at the other end know what to do? Do I need to get return labels from anywhere to stick on the box, or will the courier picking up sort this out?
Basically, I'm worried over two things, that one: my laptop won't be picked up, the seven day return period will pass, and that dell will have no recollection of ever agreeing to give me a refund, and two: my laptop will be picked up, but after that I will never hear anything from dell again, let alone receive my entire refund.
On a side note, I did mention that my laptop was faulty, but the customer service person I spoke to said that unless I could prove so with photos, then I would have to pay the shipping cost. I have sent the necessary photos, twice in fact, but keep getting told that my emails are not being received. As such, they made it quite clear that I would have to pay the shipping charges. This seems ridiculous to me, surely the laptop could just be inspected when they receive it?
Someone please put my mind at rest!

dont worry about the 7 day notice , as u said they already agreed on the refund , so its up to the courier now and dell to sort it out,
u need to get a receipt from the ups when they pick it up as proof that u sent it and they picked it up , other wise if it goes missing and u dont have that proof its down to u and u will loose the refund, so dont leave it outside for them to pick it up
my advice is wait for them to come and pick it up from your hands and give you the receipt , that way you are fully covered
