I have both 3D Vision Glasses 1 and 2. Whenever my R4 goes in 3d mode may it be Movies or Games, the monitor just goes to its dimmest setting. Using FN+F4 didn't help at all . So I was wondering if there was a problem with my Monitor? Its hardware ID is SEC5044. I put and tested each glasses and saw no difference at all. In comparison with my R3 and R4, there was subtle difference brightness. I have updated my drivers and BIOS on the R4 (everything is up-to-date). I don't understand..?

It's due to the refresh rate, when it enters 3D mode it goes to 120htz therefore the brightness is re-adjusted.

ah okay. thank you for replying. How does 3D Vision actually works? I've read online that the monitors are suppose to go at full brightness. However on mine, the screen goes the opposite. Is this normal? Forgive my ignorance, I am kinda new in how 3D Vision 2 works. :(

The main difference is 2x brighter than before (on 120hz) and bigger lenses.

Is the screen bright enough to see movies etc fine? Then it just may be locking the brightness thingy, without actually being on the 'lowest brightness'... as far as I remember you can't change the brightness when it's on 3D, dno tho. Is it bright enough and you're just confused about the setting, or is it actually really dim?

It's actually very dim. There are 7 brightness adjustment with FN+F4 and FN+F5. I've tested it on with 3D and without, and I am positively sure that the screen is at its dimmest level whenever I use 3D vision. When I select 3D Vision, the screen blanks off for a moment and you could see the backlight is at its brightest but after the black blank moment, the 3D is turned on and the display is at the dimmest (auto adjust). I've tried with 100hz,110hz and 120hz. No difference at all in screen brightness. Can you imagine wearing the glasses (makes the screen dimmer) and the screen itself is at the dimmest brightness level watching a movie even in the dark? I can see white colors (not bright) but the rest I need to strain my eyes to imagine the colors. Yes, it is THAT dim.

2x brightness? I've tested mine and my brother's R3. There is absolutely no difference at all. Though the R3's lg has a super bright screen when 3D vision is not used compared to R3's samsung. Other than that, when comparing both R3 and R4 in 3D, I could not tell a difference even for a very particular and observant person like me :p The main thing i'm concerned is.. does the screen must go to max brightness when using 3D Vision? I've contacted Dell Support and they have agreed to send me a screen replacement but I would like to clear this matter whether it is my screen at fault or this is how 3D Vision is(disappointed). I've searched the whole web but could not sort this matter out so I resorted to this forum. xD

As far as I'm concerned. It is normal and it is locked.
