    Hello,

I have an M17x R4 and a few days ago this series of events happened: Chrome crashed, followed by a windows crash (win 8 - windows explorer crash). After this I went to restart the computer but every time I did my second hard-drive would not load and the system would have a crash after about 5min (again windows explorer).

I reinstalled the system but upon loading my second hard drive would begin to squeal and not load. After full reinstall on the main hard drive(two times), I'm getting a sys32 crash error (blue screen). Also whenever I try to auto update, the second hard drive begins to squeal.

I ran the Alienware hardware diagnostic test and everything apparently works perfectly according to the the test. So the comp tells me my hardware is fine but windows (8 pro) and second hard-drive dont seem to work at all.

What do you guys think is happening?

If a hard drive makes any sort of noise that it really should not it's immediate backup and replace/RMA time.

I'm confirming that as well, that seems like the 2nd HDD passed away and it's time to replace it.

If I understand what you are saying correctly it is the second hard drive that is being noisy? If so then just remove it and try doing a clean install on your C drive. If the D Drive is the problem the computer should be operate normally with just the C drive.

If everything is ok at this stage then get a replacement D drive and try putting your old D drive in a USB caddy. You might be able to get your data off it or maybe not. Best of luck.
