    Hi all,

I have an M17X R4 with an i7 3610QM and an AMD 7970M in it, however when I tried to install the HD4000 drivers on the DVD, it said the computer didn't meet minimum requirements. Lo and behold, in the BIOS, it isn't even detecting the integrated GPU.

Any ideas why this might be? Thing is running a bit toasty being on discrete GPU all the time.

i think you probably need to switch the gfx output manually via fn + f7(please check) and then restart
then try installing drivers for hd4000
nvidia systems dont require it because of optimus(non 3d systems)

also you could try these methods if it is getting a bit hot(at own risk)
1 increase fan speed via hwinfo
2 clean the heat sink radiator and fan by opening the laptop
    3 repaste

I tried fn+f7 but didn't seem to do anything, before or after restart. No integrated graphics detected in BIOS and no additional graphics adaptors detected in Windows.

What does it show in the sound card option?
    What OS?
Try hitting fn-f7 and see if the sound card changes

If you are still facing issues I suggest flashing the bios, even if it means the A13

Reluctant to install A13 BIOS as windows 8 only? I'm on W7.

I've tried 3 of the earlier BIOS and none detect iGPU.

Sound card gives AMD High Def and Sound Blaster Recon

Just called Dell and they suggest CPU fault (?), and thereby motherboard replacement.
