So my ultra reliable Alienware has finally shown its first fault after a little under a year... I think? I hope.

Screen is fuzzy.. see attached picture. Certainly colours in the palette are 'fuzzy'.. it reminds me of in the days of 15 pin VGA connectors when they would slightly fall out. Looks the same. So I would guess that my monitor wire ribbon inside the laptop is a little loose perhaps? Anyone fixed this before? Is the ribbon hard to get to?

I really don't want to send the laptop back for something I used to fix as a daily part of my job by screwing the VGA cable in a little tighter :)

The HDMI output works fine. And the problem came and went a bit over 2 days before becoming permanent.

    Any help appreciated, cheers!

if its a monitor related issue, you always have an option to replace it since it should be covered by guarantee and it has been less then a year.

Since the HDMI output seems to be working perfectly, your gpu is probably fine.

Chances are the monitor ribbon cable got a bit loose after a years worth of moving your 10 pound monster around. I believe the ribbon is located underneath the keyboard. There's many tutorials floating around on how to remove the keyboard.

Worst case scenario though...your monitor is on it's last legs but warranty should replace your monitor for you.

    Good luck :)
