    I finally finished set up for GTX1070 to M17X R4 3D(120hz)
still doing some stress testing and actual gaming testing.
I think current setting's temperature and clocks are stable enough to announced to show you guys.

It needs few customizing to make GTX1070 fits to M17X R4

    1. 3D panel
    2. Heatsink custom
    3. Driver mod

This is GTX1070 I have. It's full size MXM version with 8GB VRAM
Red lines are chips that cause uneven matched for my custom heatsink. I will explain this later.

This is full customize heatsink for GTX1070. It is 5rows of heat pipes for better cooling
It's fully CNC milled from solid copper.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Major difference from original heatsink is a bumb which locate at top-middle side.

This is a picture of I cut off both side of bumps for fitting heatsink without trouble as I showed on first picture.

After all this effort, custom heatsink match and sits on GTX1070 well and cools well.

This is FS result of GTX1070 / i7-3940XM.

I will post more pictures and information.
If got any questions, feel free to ask me.

    ---------------------Up date--------------------------------------------------------------------

    This is GPU-Z from GTX1070

    [IMG] [IMG]
Result of 3Dmark Stress test shows it works full and fine.

I attached vBios file those who needs it.

Nice work Seedless, did you have to change the vbios on the card for it to post with the 120hz screen? If not could I ask which version of vbios came on your card? And could you upload a copy?

    Thanks,

    Javers

Wow that custom HS is like brand new, Better than what you get on Dell Aftermarket parts. I wish we could get access to such resources for the Alienware 17 R1 for fitting this type of MXM3.0b. Great work again, First you did that P5000M then this. Seems like you have a lot of contacts & access to the manufacturing facilities.

Much appreciated, I'm struggling to get mine work with 120hz screen but its a Eurocomm card not a GeCube. Think there must be some differences between the boards.

No difference, Eurocom card is really a GeCube card......

@SeeDLesS how much the cost direct from Gecube?

No, sadly. I gained around 1 more degree by applying a slightly thinner layer of thermal paste, but that's it. Looking between the heatsink and the GPU, the heatsink seems to be perfectly flat as far as I can tell... Weird.

Ive had my 1070 MXM for nearly a hear... how are you guys getting it to work. For cryin oout loud I fried my bios and desoldered it back to life just trying toto get this depressingly Taunting msi card in. Does anyone here feel like shooting me a PM and giving me a rundown on how to do this the correct way?

they are not using the same card though as you, this thread was a guy with a regular sized 1070, what we call a EURO 1070 or gecube some call it. You have a 1070 from Vortex, with a odd vbios on it. Which has been taken care of of course. Technically speaking your setup in the end should be superior too.

guys the pictures in the initial post are gone. can anyone remember what scores he managed to get in firestrike?

i want to upgrade my m17x r4 with a 1070 and i am looking for the working options. the msi one is the best known to work although it needs some extra mods to the chasis and the mxm connector and heatsink...

i am looking for maybe some other 1070 with more normal mxm design that might work?

it would help us a lot if we knew that this card also works in our systems

I opened up the laptop and took pics for you last night. I needed to adjust some thermal pads anyways, got 12.8k firestrike on first run after.

@2CPU gpu looks identical to my 1070 Zotac chip for chip. it must be the zotac, (remember that to use the zotac we flash a different vbios so you will never see Zotac info anywhere.) mine just says "subvendor DELL" on gpu info. The other one in the pics I have no idea where its from but looks as it fits perfectly the 100w oem heatsink.

    hope it helps

Yes Correct, I edited to explained myself better. I thought 2CPU didnt know what was in his R4, and he most def has the Zotac as it is identical to mine, the other one on ebay is NOT.
