    Hi guys,

My patience with this stupid laptop is wearing ultra thing.

It was originally a 120hz 780m M17X R5 machine, i have since sold the 780m to find out the 120Hz panel needs this to work.

I bought a 60Hz panel installed it hoping the built in GPU would power it and nothing... 8 bleeps.. WTF is going on :s im lost..

Do a BIOS reset after installing the new panel.

A basic question, did you change the cable to LVDS?

I had 8 beets too, you need to reset the machine. You can go look at the thread by MogRules to get my full experience and what I did to reset the laptop there

Believe its the first page of the AW17 / m17x thread

    You skipped a step.

You r supposed to pull battery, and CMOS, disconnect AC Adapter and hold power for 30 seconds then try again

At least this is what I can recall.

Some people state swapping CPU or taking out a RAM module to force the system to recognize a system alteration but I cant confirm that since I didnt need to try

    Proper CMOS reset steps:
    1. Turn the system off and disconnect the AC adapter
    2. Disconnect CMOS battery and system battery
    3. Do a power drain (press and hold power button 30 seconds)
    4. Remove all memory modules
    5. Reconnect AC adapter and power system on
    6. Let laptop beep until it turns itself off
    7. VERY QUICKLY, WHILE IT IS OFF, BUT BEFORE IT ATTEMPTS TO BOOT AND LIGHTS COME ON AGAIN, INSERT A MEMORY MODULE
    8. System will start to beep 5 times
    9. Power system off
    10. Reconnect CMOS battery and system battery
    11. Replace any panels removed for access to memory modules
    12. Done…
Needless to say all ram modules on both sides need to be removed.

Any missing step ruinsthe whole process.
