What's better 5870x 2 or GTX 285Mx2? only $50 extra to upgrade to the GTX 285 but is this even worth it?

5870s are better AND less expensive.

Is 5870x 2 actually that much better then just a single 5870? I worry about having issues with 2x and not being as reliable and stable?

If you are having issues with a game or app you can always disable one card :) Plus you could always sell the extra card for some extra cash on Ebay lol :D

The two card debate has been going on since SLI showed up. The games have to have profiles built in to utilize the second card dito for the GPU drivers. Now on Nvidia GPUs you can go in the control pannel and force the PC into alternate rendering where every other frame is rendered by the second card. NVIDIA vs ATi at this point onhestly a push, all about the drivers and what games cater to which card.

I must say that i torn between the dual card and single card setup. While i think most people awe at first about having a SLi or CF setup, for most games, you will not get a significant boost. I think i enjoyed playing games on my single 5870 more than the dual 4870s now just because of the loud fan noise. And these are at stock speeds too... I don't do that much benching and while i admit it is cool to be able to break 20k on 3dmark06, it doesn't help to have an extra 10 fps in sc2 while your fans are screaming at you. Kinda stresses me out more :p

I'm rather sure it's a 900p display, after looking all around at related pricing.
