    Dear Sir / Madam,

This is regarding the m17x r2 I did the update from windows (bios update A09) and got stuck before ending the flash...

Now the computer keyboard and all the other lights are coming on, but not the screen and there is no hdd activities...

I tried to make the boot disk for the pc, but unable to get in the 'crisis recovery mode'. I inserted the disk 2 in the dvd-rom but nothing happens... It starts for about few seconds and then stops...

Anybody who has some advice, please help. Maybe is a different key combination for the crisis boot (FN+B, FN-F, ESC+FN, D, END - tried all this).

The problem is that I am travelling for 1 and half months and until I get back I will not be able to get the motherboard replaced (already called DELL and said that I can have the motherboard replaced within a week).

    Thank you guys.

    Regards,

    Julian

In your original post you talk about making a boot disk and inserting it into the dvd drive, that's not the same as making a bootable usb ...

Did you plug the usb drive into the esata port? did you try another usb drive/port?

Are you reading the instructions right about holding down the FN+B combo when plugging in until the hdd lights turn on?

Edit: BTW how did it get stuck at the end of the flash, did it just freeze?

Got it fixed. Thank you for your reply.

Re-stating: I already made the usb boot disk and tried many keys combination, but nothing was happening.

The problem was that I did not have a 2 gb usb disk. I was on a microsd card (2 gb) + the card reader (which is usb).

I went and purchased a 2 gb flash drive. It did not recover from the e-sata/usb port, was from the first usb port on the same side.

I am so happy... Tomorrow I have to call dell and cancel the replacement (I will do some diagnostics / tests / benchmarking before that).

This is the best site I have ever seen. I even purchased on ebay an i7 920xm ES from shirley and the system is perfect...

Thanks guys for making things easier for everyone arrowned the world.

    Regards
