    I have just completed putting together all the components for a bare bones m17x-r1 and I have a few questions. It has the FX (lighted keyboard) .How do you change colors if you can? And how do you switch from the integrated video card to the dual NVIDIA 8700 SLI cards? kirk

    Also I don't see where the SLI ribbon is connected for the NVIDIA cards.

    One more question.I have 2 optical drives for the m17x-r1. A dvd and a blue ray-dvd, and in the smart bay the plug dosnt work or isnt the same as the smartbay optical drive kit. What kind of adapter do I need?

    an Alienware software app is used to change the colours. you can download it from Dells site.

    The GPU change can be done via BIOS or from the touch panel

    There should be a small connector on each GPU, there are pictures of them on this forum try a search

    There was a ribbon cable from the optical drive to the m17x if I remember correctly

    You nned to install the Command Centre app, and the OSD app to get teh above functions working
