    Hi Forum,

One of my friends and i are thinking about replacing our I7 720 to 920QM with throttlestop.

Has anyone changed to the 920 QM and can tell something about the gaming performance performance, maybe with benchmarks?

A fully loaded 720QM will give you zero turbo boost and be running at:

    1596 MHz (12.0 x 133 MHz)

A fully loaded 920XM will give you as much turbo boost as you want and can easily run at least 100% faster.

    3192 MHz (24.0 x 133 MHz)

Some lucky XM owners are able to run reliably with the 25, 26 or 27 multiplier when 1 or 2 cores are active. If you can afford it, get it. Most users on NBR have had excellent success with the XM ES processors from EBay.

Maybe head over to the M17x-R2 benchmarking thread for users that have done this swap.

If a game is GPU limited, this swap might show little to no gain but any game that is CPU limited should run a lot smoother with an XM CPU.
