Hey guys, so today when I tried to unplug my laptop (I usually leave it plugged in as a portable workstation) my laptop died on me. At first I didn't know why but as soon as I booted back into windows I realised my battery was flat.

It states that my battery is at 0%, plugged in, not charging. I have no idea why. I have gone into diagnostics, my power adapter is 240W and the battery wear is at 6%. Diagnostics doesn't seem to pick up any problems. I'm at a loss as to what's causing this issue, I'm suspecting it could be my upgrade to windows 8.1 (I did this 2 weeks ago) but I can't be sure. If I turn the computer off the alienhead may display a short charging light sequence but it disappears within 10 seconds.

Perhaps anyone could help me with this sticky situation?

Try updating the BIOS and performing a power drain.

Possibly try doing a CMOS reset (take battery out and CMOS battery and power drain) might be something residual telling laptop not to charge battery. Very weird indeed though.

Thanks for the replies! I've reflashed A12 and also done a CMOS reset; none of these options are working for me though, the problem doesn't resolve itself. Any clues? :(

I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the battery; it doesn't have the signs of a dead battery (reported health, etc is normal)... It's not like one of those conditions whereby the battery is dead and reports its wear at 100%.

whats the condition of the power supply? Mine is kinda ghetto rigged up at the moment and I didn't have the ID wire spliced together correctly and my battery refused to charge. Quick solder job fixed that :p

I'm not too sure what you mean by condition, but I don't mod my power supply! It was also replaced by dell not too long ago as the previous one had spoilt! Its a 240W and the mobo doesn't throw out any errors :/

Just to check, are you on win 8.1? I'm not too sure but I suspect it could be related...
